currier and ives
Nathaniel Currier, of Currier and Ives fame published a number of early fly fishing prints, such as this 1862 example of an original painting by A.F. Tait. The well dressed angler pictured in this print entitled "Brook Trout Fishing" is using a rod with a reduced butt fitted with a click reel. A popular combination in the late 1800's.
