Latest build from Frost Flyrods

Here's my latest rod of the bench.
A Dickerson 7612 7 1'2 ft. 2/2 4wt.
Has Amboyna burl reel seat, mortised butt and ferrule plug.
This was built as a dry fly rod for small streams.
It casts beautifuly in close for delicate presentaions.
AK Best stopped by when we were looking at the rod.
He liked the rod and the workmanship.
A compliment that made my day. :D
Hope you enjoy the pics.

Beautiful Ron, just absolutely beautiful.

Love the choice of colors also. Nice work, one of the best I have ever seen. :)

Nice to hear that Archie loved it to! 8-)

Very impressive. I would be afraid to fish with such a work of art. If I made that rod it would be hanging on my wall in a glass box. ;) Nice job 8-)

Re: Latest build from Frost Flyrods

When I first commissioned Ron to build me a bamboo fly rod I told him of a blonde bamboo rod I once saw being fished on the Yellow Breeches a few years ago. I stood there and was memorized by it... that rod HAD the WHOO factor.

First and foremost the rod he was to make HAD to have the WHOO factor.

The first time out I was on Big Spring Creek in Pa, and actually the first cast of the rod this gentleman was driving by, saw me make a cast with this rod turned around and drove back to where I was and for the next 45 minutes had nothing but praise for the rod.

This past spring while fishing Penns Creek I stopped in at the Feathered Hook Fly Shop.
Jim here started talking about bamboo rods and I finally said I just purchased a new one this year and had some very nice add on's.

Image

Jim asked to see my Frost rod and followed me outside and I showed him. He was impressed with the craftsmanship and the inlays which really highlight this rod.

Image

I also visited Kettle Creek owner Phil Baldacchino also asked to see the rod.

If Phil gave it a thumbs up, then you know it is a very fine rod indeed.

The WHOO FACTOR.

What a beautiful rod! Jim Kelly is a friend of mine. When he gives a bamboo rod or any rod a good review I trust that it is. He's never steered me wrong. That is a great looking piece of fine work.
