I've never had a ton of luck with a Copper John tied in ... uh ... well ... copper. However I've tied the same pattern using GREEN wire and have found it to be deadly. I suppose you can't call it a Copper John anymore - maybe a Tarnished John or a Moldy John.

Though I like to think of myself as a DFS, the one fly I ALWAYS take fishing is the versatile Cow Dung wet fly. It has always caught nice trout, East and West, while swinging through the current.
