Dry fly number three from John Atherton as found in the classic book entitled, "The Fly and the Fish" pub. 1951. Atherton did extensive research on "light patterns" of dry flies. This can be seen in his dry fly dressings, which call for many combinations of materials and favor the use of Cree Hackle.

*Note: The dressing (and the photo) given for the body of this fly, lists ribbing with narrow oval gold tinsel. This material does not appear in the dressing instructions for this fly in the book, "The Fly and the Fish" , however the painting of the fly in the book's color plate shows the fly with the ribbing - J.B.
