Lee Wulff 1905 to 1991

Born in Valdez, Alaska in 1905. Lee's Angling legacy would include becoming a founding member of such organizations as The Federation of Fly Fishers and Theodore Gordon Fly Fishers. Lee's famous quote of "A game fish is too valuable a resource to be caught only once", bestowed upon him "The father of catch and release fishing". Pilot, artist, author, film-maker and innovator are just a few of the titles that follow the name Lee Wulff. In the 1930's Lee developed his now famous dry flies known as the Wulff series. his love affair with the atlantic salmon fishery is known throughout the world. Lee Wulff stands out as one of the most legendary figures in fly fishing history. his fly fishing school, "The Wulff School" which he and his wife Joan Salvato-Wulff opened in 1979 on the banks of the famed Beaverkill river is still in operation today.
