Born in New York City in 1917, Ray Ovington would become a many talented author, illustrator, radio and tv host, and journalist. From 1945 to 1953 Ray served as the MC for the radio and tv show known as "The Rod and Gun Club of the Air". Ovington authored some 16 books. Three of which are "Tactics on Trout" -published 1969, "How to take Trout on Wet Flies and Nymphs" -published in 1974, and "The Trout and the Fly" -published in 1977. Ray also wrote a column for the New York World Telegram and Son newspaper called Outdoors from 1959 to 1964. Ray called the Esopus river in New York state his favorite water.
