A pioneer in the field of "Artificial Propogation" of trout. An idea he concieved in 1837. He opened the world's first trout hatchery in Caledonia New York. Later with Fred Mather, Superintendent of Long Island, New York's Cold Spring Hatchery they stocked the Catskill Rivers with the first European brown trout. Seth Green is the author of the book "Trout Culture", published in 1870.
